includes the land required by the Hong Kong and

Whampoa Dock Co., should be handed over at once to

the Colonial Government.

(3) that all the remainder of the Military Reserve

Land at Kowloon, except the site required for Barrack

extension (No: 2 on schedule A), now occupied by the

various ranges, should be handed over to the Colonial

Government as soon as the new ranges shall have been

provided at Devil's Peak.

These recommendations are only made on the under-

standing that the Colonial Office representative will on his

part recommend to the Secretary of State for the Colonies

(1) that the War Department shall receive in return

(a)

all the Colonial land of which the trans- fer was proposed in War Office letter to the Treasury No: 16 of Printed Correspondence A. 707, including the land below the Bowen Road Hospital Site (Nos: 1, 2 and 3 in Schedule B.)

(b)

the land at Devil's Peak (No: 4 on Schedule B.)

that all the lands involved in these transactions

(except the Colonial Military land at Kowloon

required for the extension of the Dock end the land

at West Point Battery) shall be valued by an in-

dependent and competent surveyor chosen in accordance

with para: 7 of the Colonial Office Circular of 30th

December 1894 (No: 2 of Printed Correspondence A. 390),

(except that, if the Governor and the G.0.0. agree
